In 2020-2021, Charles was a visiting professor of international economics at the Army War College in Carlisle PA, where he taught courses in national security policy and international political economy. Prior to joining the University of Idaho, Charles was a visiting professor of politics at Centre College in Danville KY and an adjunct professor of political science at the University of Cincinnati.
